Boca Helping Hands, Women In Distress and Best Buddies Receive Funding
Sun Capital Partners Foundation, Inc. (or “the Foundation”) today announced that it has made donations to three charities dedicated to providing services to women, families, children and disabled communities across South Florida: Boca Helping Hands, Women In Distress and Best Buddies. The Foundation has supported all three organizations in previous years.
“Since we founded Sun Capital Partners Foundation in 2007, we have supported more than 700 charities, focusing on innovative non-profits that have a strong culture of social engagement and provide a direct, positive impact, both globally and in local communities,” said Marc J. Leder, Co-CEO of Sun Capital Partners and President of The Foundation. “We are proud to support Boca Helping Hands, Women In Distress and Best Buddies, and do our part to help ensure they can continue to provide assistance to those most in need.”
The Foundation has a longstanding, ten-year association with Boca Helping Hands (BHH), a community-based nonprofit that provides food, medical and financial assistance to meet basic human needs as well as education, job training and guidance to create self-sufficiency. BHH distributes 80,000 pantry bags each year at four Palm Beach County locations and serves more than 70,000 hot meals annually. This year’s $150,000 donation is the largest annual contribution the Foundation has made to BHH, while total contributions from the Foundation to BHH, including employee matching grants, now total more than $940,000. The gift comes at a crucial time, with the number of food-insecure people in Palm Beach County more than doubling due to COVID-19.
Women In Distress, whose mission is to stop domestic violence abuse through intervention, education and advocacy, received a $100,000 donation. The dedicated team at Women In Distress has developed a number of services and initiatives to help accomplish this mission, including a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelters, counseling, support groups and professional training to educate the community on domestic violence.
The Foundation also donated $50,000 to Best Buddies, the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people globally with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The organization’s programs empower the special abilities of people with IDD by helping them form meaningful friendships with their peers, secure successful jobs, live independently, improve public speaking, self-advocacy and communication skills, and feel valued by society.
Marc Leder and Rodger Krouse, co-founders of Sun Capital Partners, started the Sun Capital Partners Foundation with the belief that success brings with it a responsibility to make a difference. By supporting innovative non-profit organizations, The Foundation aims to fulfill its mission of promoting sustainable and positive change.
