Point Blank, one of Pompano Beach’s largest employers, has been sold to JLL Partners, a private equity firm in New York.

Sun Capital Partners in Boca Raton sold the maker of bullet-proof vests for the police and military. The purchase price was not disclosed in an announcement Thursday.

The Federal Trade Commission on May 19 gave antitrust clearance for the purchase.

Point Blank employs 1,200 people in Broward County. It was formed in 2012 after the merger of three related companies.

Sun Capital said it installed a new management team that improved manufacturing practices and investment in new products and geographic markets.

A spokesman said previously that the sale shouldn’t affect operations in Pompano Beach, which has seen “significant growth and an increased demand for additional employees.”

The company develops and manufactures bullet- and stab-resistant vests, hard-armor plates, helmets and shields, and related accessories. Customers include the U.S. military, Department of Defense, federal agencies, and domestic and international law enforcement and corrections professionals.
