OMAHA, NE ConAgra Foods Inc. is making another international deal by acquiring Del Monte Canada.
Omaha–based ConAgra announced its plans to buy the Canadian company from an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners on Tuesday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
ConAgra says it will add Del Monte Canada’s packaged fruits, vegetables and fruit snacks to its portfolio that already includes the Hunt’s brand. ConAgra will also acquire the Aylmer tomato products brand and a manufacturing plant in Dresden, Ontario.
Del Monte Canada has 190 employees and generated about $150 million revenue in 2011.
The deal doesn’t include Del Monte fresh produce or juices.
In November ConAgra announced plans to pay $10 million to become the majority owner of Indian food company Agro Tech Foods Ltd. to broaden its international presence.
