A local paperboard manufacturer joined with a Pennsylvania packaging company. Richmond–based paper and paperboard converter Manchester Industries has merged with Paper Works Industries, an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners, a private investment firm, according to a press release. The two merged effective Jan. 18 to expand PaperWorks packaging offerings. Manchester Industries provides paperboard products to merchant distributors, packaging companies, as well as businesses serving the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and health and beauty industries. Manchester Industries’ 180 employees will become part of the PaperWorks Paperboard Group, adding to PaperWork’s 1,000 total employees.
Ken Aspinall, President of Manchester Industries, declined to comment on the merger when reached by email. The merger with Manchester Industries will bring PaperWork’s annual sales to over $450 million. Besides Richmond, Manchester Industries has four other locations in Pennsylvania, Texas, Michigan, and Indiana. PaperWork’s Paperboard Division manufactures about 300,000 tons of 100% recycled paperboard each year and serves the frozen food, beverage, oral care, and household goods industries. Papersworks, headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was founded in September 2008 with nine locations including Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina, Kansas, two in New York, and two in Canada.
